Mihaela Vujnovic is an artist-researcher whose sculptural practice registers memory of a continually changing present. Her sculptures are reflecting on responsibility and coexistence in uncertain ecological futures.

Her practice develops material systems that engage processes of transformation, instability, and degradation, often articulated through site-conditioned assemblages. Drawing on the concept of a “future archaeology,” her work considers the present as an active stage of long-term material change, in which human and non-human forces interact to produce forms that exist between object, trace, and residue.

Her projects frequently extend into modes of display that evoke archaeological classification, where materials are not stabilised as finished artefacts but remain in states of transition.

She has received support from institutions including Liebelt Stiftung, Stiftung Kunstfonds, VG Bild-Kunst, Denkzeit, and Culture Moves Europe. Her work has been presented internationally across Germany, France, Portugal, Austria, and Romania. She is currently a PhD candidate in Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, where she develops a practice-based research project.
